The samples I have chosen demonstrate my ability to create
both professional graphics for multiple mediums and
large-scale digital design projects maintained on a dedicated platform.

Design Samples

The design project to the left serves as a beneficial addition to the digital items I have curated as a Librarian at the Arkansas School for Math, Science and the Arts (ASMSA). Currently, the fiction section of the library is separated according to genre. The bright colors with simple directions work well to capture attention and encourage the library's main patrons (teens) to browse according to their preferred genre. Each semester the book covers are updated with new arrivals.

The graphics from above were created as Instagram posts for both the ASMSA Library and as a collaborative effort with the ASMSA Outreach department to showcase off-campus activities. The graphics below are Facebook posts created for the UA Little Rock Rhetoric and Writing department as promotional material.

The graphic to the left was created to showcase the era of animation assigned to each corresponding Disney film. Using a recognizable header/subheader typeface, bold color choices, and high-resolution images, I demonstrated my ability to take a simple list of information and turn it into an engaging infographic.

As a lifelong lover of reading, I have always endeavored to share my elation over my favorite books with any of my friends or colleagues who would listen. Eventually, however, I became curious about utilizing online options to expand the range of my influence to better help authors promote their books. So, I decided to become a co-blogger on an established book review site with a close friend and worked for the next two years (2014-2016) as a professional reader creating a network of contacts and followers in the publishing world. As a professional reader, I am provided free copies of books in exchange for my honest review and feedback as both a blogger and a librarian in the following ways:

  • I can request to read and review digital copies of books via NetGalley prior to their release date. My profile as a member of Netgalley is then reviewed and I am contacted with the news that I have been accepted and can download an e-copy of the book to read and review before the listed archival date.

  • Authors and publishers contact me via email to inquire as to whether or not I would be interested in reading a copy of their book and posting a review online. If I agree, they send me a free copy (either in digital or hard copy format) and I proceed to read and then write an honest review.

With my list of requested reviews steadily growing, I decided to branch out on my own and created my own book review site, The Lit Lady Book Blog, using Wordpress in December of 2016. My site now serves as a platform where I can post my own book reviews as well as work with PR representatives for authors by helping to host blog tours and giveaways to promote new releases.

I have worked diligently since then to study best practices surrounding the monitoring of web traffic to my site and to begin familiarizing myself with Web Content Accessibility guidelines.  My desire to fix technical glitches I kept finding in my posts also prompted me to seek out online training through Codecademy. I successfully completed the Make and Launch a Website, HTML, and CSS courses earlier this year and can now troubleshoot issues with the coding on my site.
